Mirrag ... and Welkom ...
Hello lekka peoples!!! Hoesit!? Hope you all are well! Hello to my New Zealand brothers and sistas ... missing you guys!
Hey ... it's been a while. It's been hectic ... clearly not enough hours in the day coz I've been VERY besig ... I've been busy doing a few things behind the scenes (as usual).
The website has not been updated for a few reasons:
- www.squarrows.co.za went A.W.O.L. in the search engines a few weeks ago, due to people piggy-backing off its popularity. This had to be sorted coz I've put a moerse lot of effort into this baby ... and no free rides was gonna be allowed.
- Automated mailing lists. Makes things easier when I need to contact all of you. (A HUGE APOLOGY IF YOU GUYS GOT SPAMMED LAST WEEK ... there was a tiny glitch in the matrix. MY APOLOGIES .... all is good and well now.)
NOW ... the reasons you are getting an update:
- The death threats have been noted (Thanks to Craig and Deidre from the REGULATORS)
- The Kraaifontein COWBOY has promised to Blackmail me if there isn't an update
- Most importantly ... there's a MOERSE lot of functions coming up
So ... go make yourself some coffee, or pour you another RUM.
TODAY'S SURVIVAL TIP:
Next time you are too drunk to ride,
Walk to the nearest Debonairs,
Place an order,
And when they go to deliver it,
Catch a ride home with them.
UPDATE TO TODAY'S SURVIVAL TIP:
When catching a lift with the delivery guy give him the long directions home - after 45mins the hot dot will go cold and you will get the pizza and the lift for free.
Are you comfy now? Let's get this bitch updated!!!
What we've been up to ...
Whale Festival Breakfast Run
24 September 2010
Some of the Squarrows Guys and ladies (and friends) did a breakfast run through to Hermanus for the Whale festival. The only feedback that I got was that it was a "SUPER JAS" run, with loads of entertainment (Thank you Brandon and Alan).
Here's some pics of the
Squarrows Run to Hermanus Whale festival.
Luggage Carriers
With a whole host of events coming up, I've been in the market to purchase a luggage carrier for my bike. After searching for a while (thank you Supie), I came across a manufacturer that makes one for every bike imaginable. EVEN HONDA'S!!!
However ... this contraption doesn't come cheap ... (for my GSX-R 750 K9) I'm looking at +/- R3500, and ... although I found a supplier of this New Zealand product here in Pinelands, he wasn't able to sell me one coz I'm not a dealer. This made me think ... if it's about R3500, I'm looking at +/-R4500 to purchase a simple luggage carrier from a dealer.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY BOTTLES OF RUM THAT COULD BUY?So ... after careful planning (and downloading the pics of the manufactured product), with Supie's guidance ... I attempted to make one. I'm impressed with the outcome so far ... and the cost:
- +/-R60 for 6m of mild steel tubing
- +/-R10 for bolts and fasteners
Here's some pics of the luggage carrier project so far.

Well done to Supie for making one too (even though it was for the COWBOY!)
Kurt Abrahams Fundraiser hosted by Peace of Africa Projects
Date: 16 October 2010
Now it's functions like these that make me proud to be a biker!!!
So ... on Saturday I attended Uncle Kurt's fundraiser at the Wrestling Club in Tyderdal, Goodwood. Although I got there later, everyone ranted and raved on how good the support was. A lekka party was had by all, seeing that the dop was way cheap and the entertainment hot! (There was this number sung by Lukmaan Adams in person ... a love song to a muslim marram that had me in stiches!!!)
Loads of awesome auctioned prizes (I got me some Buena Vista DOLLARS worth R200 for only R100!) and lots of donations by various individuals and biker clubs.
TO ALL OF YOU ... I SALUTE YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT FOR KURT ABRAHAMS. I KNOW THAT KURT AND HIS FAMILY GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS AND SUPPORT!!!! Like I said ... it's moments like these that make you smile and feel proud to be a biker!!!

Amazing Race for bikers 2010

Now if you didn't participate in the 1st Amazing Race, then you clearly missed out. One of, if not the most ingeneous biking events EVER!
So, you should be familiar or heard of the Amazing Race that runs on the television. Same concept, only that this one entails that your only mode of transport if your bike ... and your feet. You and a pillion have to make your way from one unkwown point to the next, figuring out cryptic clues and finishing off challenges to make it to the end point. The difference between the 1st Amazing Race and the
2nd Amazing Race, is the following:
- this year's Amazing Race takes part outside of Cape Town (+/- 140kms)
- Saturday, 6th November into Sunday, 7th November 2010
- it's a sleepover event (can't let a moeg rider and pillion ride all the way back to Cape Town, plus you get to party afterwards)
- R150 per person secures your badge, sleepover and refreshments along the way
- this year's theme is Eco-Friendly Bikers
- Guaranteed ... you will do something you have NEVER, EVER, done before
Seeing that Nats and I have already signed up to defend our title (Yes, we won it last here with AMAZING prizes totalling R7000!), here's some (non-biased) testimonials about last year's Amazing Race:

Booby Trap
South African Law
Two recent court cases have earned the attention of newspaper readers in
South Africa :
1. One person was fined R1 000 for not having a TV licence.
2. Another was released on bail for R500 after being arrested for murder.
The moral of this South African story:
If you do not have a TV licence and the inspector comes round, kill him.
You'll save R500.
... It's the Right Thing To Do ....
I have a feeling ...
This is going to be a short fight!
