week of technical gremlins, late nights @ work and what what ... the Squarrows website
"WEEKLY UPDATES" will be happening every week or so ... :)
So ... it's almost that time of year again for the 2
BIGGEST rallies
in the Western Cape. Swallows Rally 2009 and Buffalo Rally 2009 is just a couple
of sleeps away.
HAVE YOU PRE-ENTERED?
Another big thing happening this year is of course election time. April month is
gonna be a short working month with a good couple of holidays including election
day on the 22nd of April.
HAVE YOU REGISTERED ALREADY?. Isn't it
strange that just before elections, the local government is darem very busy cleaning
shit, cutting things, traffic cops all over the place ready to give you with the
non-billboard number plates a
R1000 fine.
YES ... 1 THOUSAND
SOUTH AFRICAN RANDS FOR AN ILLEGAL NUMBER PLATE!! Got this info from
the friendly staff at Milnerton traffic department. Really nice bunch of people
that work there.
Anyways ... thanks to all the people that sent their contributions to the Squarrows
website. PLEASE don't stop sending information ... coz if it gets published, YOUR
name will be accredited to the article. Info for the website can still be sent to
news@squarrows.co.za.

Got this email from Jason ...
"I got cornered yesterday by a fellow rider. Or at least he was until he had his
accident. But let me try and tell his story.
Around August 2008 I was chatting away about Biker’s Law, and the benefits, and
this same guy was asking questions, and was generally interested. It was clear he
cold see the benefit of joining Biker’s Law. But somehow he never came round to
it. Each time I saw him, he would just laugh and say he forgot his form at home,
but the next time he sees me, he will hand it to e. And this somehow became a standing
joke.
Until November 2008 that is. He was swiped by a lady in a car, chatting on her cell
phone, asking directions to her next client. His scoot was a write-off, he had spent
some serious time in hospital, he had medical-aid, which partially paid his costs,
but still left him with around R80 000 out of pocket, and his bike was not insured.
Naturally, I was the second or third call he made, wanting to join. Needless to
say, we could not help him on his accident, as it is rather clear that you need
to be a paid-up member at the time of your accident, to be able to call on our help.
So he took the next best option, and went to see a good attorney, to help him sort
out his trouble. They are doing exactly what Biker’s Law is doing, but the amount
of time and energy consumed by getting the prosecution sorted, court dates they
have to attend in their watching brief, and the usual letters and phone-calls are
all adding up, add to that trying to get the driver of the car in court to sue for
all the damages, including the cost of a new bike, and his legal bill is already
over the R30 000 mark. And they are not even close to the end of it.
So, yesterday he had his Biker’s Law form in his hand, and he joined. He knows it
won’t help much in his current legal battle, but like he says, "One day I’ll have
a bike again, and I don’t plan on spending my bond on another court case again"
So, think about that registration form lying around somewhere, and perhaps its time
to get it handed in (email it to
admin@bikerslaw.co.za),
and then you too know, you won’t have to spend your bond in the pursuit of justice.
If you don’t have a form as yet, go register online at or website,
www.bikerslaw.co.za but whatever you
do, think very carefully whether you could afford not spending R20 a month. Most
of us can’t. Like I always say, never before has R20 bought so much for so little!
